Pace Calculator

Calculate running pace, finish time, or distance from any two known values.

🔢
Pace Calculator
Use the formula and worked example below to calculate manually.

Overview

The pace calculator computes any of three running variables — pace (min/km or min/mile), finish time, or distance — when you know the other two. Use it to plan race strategy or analyse a training run.

How to use this calculator

  1. Select what you want to calculate: Pace, Time, or Distance.
  2. Enter the two known values.
  3. The calculator shows the unknown value instantly.

Understanding the inputs & results

Pace
Time taken to cover one kilometre (or mile). E.g., 6:00 min/km means 10 km/h.
Finish time
Total time to complete a race or run: Pace × Distance.
Distance
Total distance run: Time ÷ Pace.
Speed (km/h)
Distance covered per hour: 60 / Pace (min/km).

The formula

Pace formula
Pace = Time / Distance | Time = Pace × Distance | Distance = Time / Pace

All three formulas are rearrangements of the same relationship. Ensure units are consistent (minutes and kilometres, or minutes and miles).

Worked example

Run 10 km in 55 minutes.
  1. Pace = 55 min / 10 km = 5:30 min/km.
  2. Speed = 60 / 5.5 = 10.9 km/h.
Pace = 5:30 min/km | Speed ≈ 10.9 km/h.
